A man who aggressively banged on a woman’s door while shouting and swearing has been placed on an electronic tag.

Billy McCrorie, of Park Crescent in Dalmellington, appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court last week and pled guilty to one charge.

Procurator Fiscal Miss Pigeon told the court that the complainer was within the living room of her Bellsbank home with her partner on April 8. At around 6.10pm she saw two males walking past the window and going to the front door.

The woman heard shouting and swearing at the door and saw McCrorie, 22, striking it.

He then shouted: “A f*****’ grass, f*****’ w***e.”

The woman then saw a second male appearing to assist McCrorie in standing up. The woman banged on her window telling McCrorie to stop and to leave her property, but his behaviour continued.

He eventually left and the woman contacted police.

McCrorie returned to the woman’s front door again at about 7pm. Police, who had arrived on the scene, spoke to McCrorie, unaware that he was the person responsible for the earlier incident.

He was told by officers that he could not gain access to the property. McCrorie walked away shouting and swearing and police then realised it was him they were looking for. They approached McCrorie and he ran off.

Officers traced him at his home address on April 25. He made no reply to caution or charge.

Defending McCrorie, solicitor Mr Cameron said: “He was heavily under the influence of alcohol at the time.

“He was at the address before because of the complainer’s son. He was oblivious that she lived there and had it in his head it was the son’s address.”

Sheriff Desmond Leslie then asked Mr Cameron: “So, who’s the ‘f*****’ grass’ and who’s the ‘f*****’ w***e’?”

Mr Cameron replied: “He doesn’t know. His memory’s been obliterated by a huge amount of alcohol.

“He realises that this behaviour was completely inappropriate.”

Referring to a background report carried out on McCrorie, Mr Cameron added: “The report in many ways is a very positive report. It describes a man who’s very stable in his life.”

McCrorie was given a Community Payback Order. He was also placed on a Restriction of Liberty Order prohibiting him from leaving his home between the hours of 7pm and 5am for two months.
