A MOUTHWATERING selection of cakes, washed down with tea and coffee could be sampled at a coffee morning organised by St Patrick's Primary School in Troon.

Pupils helped support the World's Biggest Coffee Morning, organised by Macmillan Cancer Support.

People turned out in good numbers for the event and it helped raise more than £400 for the charity.

Thanks go to everyone who took part.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event. People all over the UK host their own Coffee Mornings and donations on the day are made to Macmillan. Organisers hope to raise over £27 million again this year, to help everyone living with cancer to live life as fully as they can.

The first ever Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, they did it again the next year – only this time nationally. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £200 million for Macmillan.
