CARING Primary Seven pupils from Troon proved to be the perfect hosts when they staged a fundraising event for charity.

Struthers Primary School supported the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, organised by Macmillan Cancer Support by holding their own event for friends, parents and people across the community.

The event helped raise an impressive £1200.74 to help support the work of Macmillan Cancer Support.

People attending the event were asked for a donation on arrival and there were a mouthwatering selection of treats, including a wide range of cakes, along with a good supply of coffee and tea.

A raffle was also organised at the event, which was well attended by people from across the community.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event.

People from all over the UK host their own coffee mornings and donations are made to Macmillan.

Organisers are counting up the pennies and pounds for this year’s event and hope to raise over £27 million again this year. Their efforts will help everyone living with cancer to live life as fully as they can. The first ever coffee morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan. Since then more than £200m has been raised.
