A man has been sentenced to six months in prison after resisting arrest and behaving in a threatening manner.

Gavin Wallace of Glenmuir Road, Ayr, pleaded guilty to the charges that occurred on August 20 this year.

The 25-year-old was drinking alcohol with his parents in their home before becoming aggressive and confrontational.

The accused father tried to calm his son down but reluctantly called the police to which Wallace said if he called them, he would ‘punch their f*****g faces in’.

The procurator fiscal told the court that on arrival to the property, the police were told to ‘f**k off’ repeatedly by Wallace as he stood punching his fist into his right hand.

A further two police officers attended the scene to detain the individual who stated to the officers ‘f*****g come ahead then’.

After resisting arrest, the police managed to restrain him using both handcuffs and leg restraints amidst Wallace’s shouting and swearing.

Peter Lockhart, representing Wallace said: “He is aware that he needs to get a grip of himself and his behaviour as he has been in prison before.”

Sheriff John Montgomery showed no remorse to the 25-year-old and said: “You have now accumulated a considerable number of offences and you do not seem to have learned. You have been to jail before and you are going to jail again.”

Gavin Wallace was sentenced to six months imprisonment, reduced from nine for a guilty plea.
