GREASE was the word and Mary Poppins performed when Livewire Troon Drama and Musical Theatre classes presented a Christmas Musical Showcase.
There were sizeable audiences for the productions in St Meddan's Church on both Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16.
We got underway with the youngsters in 3-5 Years Drama and Musical Theatre presenting an Easy Cheesy Nativity with two mice the main characters in the production. Then we moved on to the Senior Singing Quartet, who presented I Know It's Today.
This was followed by a colourful and musical performance of Mary Poppins and this was topical as a re-working of the original production, which stars Emily Blunt, is now in cinemas. It featured some scenes from the sixties movie and songs including A Spoonful of Sugar, Let's Go Fly a Kite and supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
Then we returned to the seventies for a short version of the movie Grease, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Songs like Sandy, Hopelessly Devoted To You and Grease Lightning were performed by a strong cast and principals and some scenees from the film/musical were acted out. There was then a performance of Good Morning Baltimore by a soloist.
A new superhero was embraced in the innovative Superstan before the Junior Singing Soloists presented a lively version of Jingle Bells.
A Livewire Theatre spokeswoman said: "After an incredible Christmas Production weekend we would like to thank and congratulate our Livewire students once again on a fantastic performance and really getting us into the Christmas spirit! We are so lucky."
