PHARMACISTS in Ayr are appealing to people in South Ayrshire that are feeling under the weather that a visit to their GP isn’t always their first port of call this summer.
As part of the NHS ‘help us, help you’ campaign, Well Pharmacies in Ayr are promoting reasons why the public should go to their pharmacist.
With around 18 million GP appointments and 2.1 million A&E visits for self-treatable conditions such as hay fever, coughs and tummy bugs, visiting a pharmacist first could help save the NHS up to £850 million per year.
Jane Devenish, pharmacist for Well Pharmacy, said: “It can be hard to judge your own health, and small niggles can be a sign of something more serious.
“Pharmacists are experts in medicines, managing minor illnesses and providing health and wellbeing advice.”
