GENEROUS footballers took to the field in aid of Ayrshire Cancer Support last week raising £836.
Eight teams across Ayrshire came to Hosiery Park in Troon to kick-off the fantastic fundraising effort including Irvine CSC; Killie United; Grange Amateurs; Kilwinning AFC; Glencairn Thistle; Troon Thistle; Killie Athletic; and Troon Town.
The format split into two groups with Kilwinning AFC and Troon Town running out winners.
Organising the event, Douglas Woods said: “It’s starting to become an annual tournament. We started a couple of years ago just as a one-off charity match which did well and raised a bit of cash.
“It’s went from a four-team tournament to eight so it gets bigger and bigger each year.”
“Let’s face it. It’s cancer, everybody’s affected by it. It’s something everyone’s going to have something to deal with at some point in their life so it’s something everyone was right behind and did well to take part.”
