FAST-rising Prestwick tennis ace Dominic Iannotti will be hoping for more international success on the court this week at the INAS Global Games.

He aims to be a smash hit at the world’s biggest high performance event for athletes with an intellectual impairment.

The 22-year-old is part of the five-strong Great Britain squad - selected and managed by the LTA - who left for Brisbane last week for the international competition which will see over 1,000 athletes from 75 countries compete in eight different sports including athletics, swimming and cycling. Dominic took bronze in the doubles at the last INAS Global Games in Ecuador in 2015 and claimed the doubles and mixed doubles titles at last year’s World and European Championships in Paris. In that time, he has also furthered a career as a tennis coach at Prestwick Tennis and Fitness Club, where he is now the club’s lead disability coach.

He joined the rest of the squad last week to take part in a final training session at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton before flying out to Brisbane where Great Britain, along with the host nation Australia are amongst the favourites for medals in the tennis events.

Dominic said: “I’ve been increasing my match practice and sessions at the gym so physically, I’m feeling great and ready for it. I’m expecting the Australians to be strong on home turf but we’ve got a great squad they are brilliant to be around. We all try and help each other out and support each other and team bonding is a really important part of that.”

LTA Learning Disability National Coach, Karen Ross, added: “Dominic, like all our players has put in a huge amount of effort to get into the squad and get the chance to represent their country at the INAS Global Games.”
