Rundown parts of Ayr North, Girvan, Troon and North Carrick are in line for makeovers. 

The four underpasses in Ayr North are to be improved to the tune of £15,000 as part of a total £147,000 spend on the ward. 

The cash  is to be spent on repairing and sprucing up play areas, community gardens, community noticeboards and environmental improvements. 

It is part of a move to create local area plans based on feedback from the community dubbed ‘placemaking.’ All spending plans are proposals

A total of £10,000 will be go towards improving the accessibility of Girvan promenade and the beach. Another £50,000 will be spent on play parks among a total investment of £140,000 in the town.

Maidens Beach footpath work is among improvements set to be rolled out in North Carrick where a total £106,500 is to be spent. 

And there will be new benches for ‘The Cross’ walk in Maybole. 

Troon will see a £102,500 investment in playgrounds, town signage and environmental improvements. 

A report submitted to the full council meeting in December said: “The issues of the local environment and play were raised universally across all communities.

“It is proposed to develop a programme of environmental improvement activities in areas identified by communities.

“Similarly a programme of repair, maintenance and renewal will be developed to improve play and recreation facilities.”

The placemaking projects were approved at full council in December.
