TROON Library Scrabble Club is the biggest club in Scotland with 30 regular members meeting twice a week.

They not only get together to enjoy the game, but to meet others and help combat loneliness and isolation.

Organiser Ian Wilson calls them “My Scrabble Family” as they all look out and care for each other.

Scrabble is a fun game which keeps the brain ticking over. It has a set of rules which all members adhere to.

They play two games where a score is kept and in subsequent games players can ask about words they are not sure of before they play.

Tea and biscuits are served at the club, which gives them a reason to go out, meet up with friends and socialise.
