MORRISONS stores across South Ayrshire are donating pallets of food each week to foodbanks during the coronavirus crisis.

The huge haul of food worth around £1,000 will be delivered to South Ayrshire Foodbank, to help those most in need.

It forms part of a UK-wide campaign across the supermarket giant to ‘Feed the Nation’ with £10million worth of stock set aside to ensure residents don’t go hungry.

Staff at Morrisons Troon were happy to help on Monday, March 30, with community champion Amy Rucroft leading the way.

Store manager Billy Mathews said: “It was a joint effort. We had a couple of lads from the store. South Ayrshire Foodbank came across with their van. It was essential foods, tea, coffee, pasta — key staples that’s been made available. We’ve set the café up, which is now closed, as a Foodbank donation hub, for tins, packets, or anything customers want to donate”
