Music lovers can kick off the Viennese New Year in the right way with a special performance from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra (SCO) at Ayr Town Hall.
The SCO’s Viennese New Year concert, featuring vibrant young Prague-born conductor Jiří Rožeň, will offer a selection of musical confections to enthral and delight.
The performance will include the rich musical flavours of Rožeň’s homeland in the form of Dvořák’s delicious dance-hall Prague Waltzes, as well as exquisite tidbits from Hungary and Germany.
British soprano Jennifer France will bring her silvery vocal sparkle to showpieces by Lehár and Zeller, as well as Richard Strauss’s touching love song Amor.
The programme of music runs for around two hours and is part of the 35th Ayr Concert Series arranged by Ayr Arts Guild.
Tickets for the event on Friday, January 5 start from £20 for adults, with school bookings at £3 per ticket.
