REVENGE will be the spur for Ladbrokes Championship leaders on Saturday when second-placed Ross County visit Somerset Park.
The Highlanders beat the Honest Men 2-1 at Dingwall in October, which is one of only two defeats they have suffered in the league.
United were out of action on Friday night when referee Craig Thomson called off the scheduled clash with Inverness Caley Thistle off owing to concerns about the wind.
Thomson inspected the pitch ahead of kick-off and initially decided the game was going ahead. But after discussions with Ayr boss Ian McCall and Inverness manager John Robertson the whistler decided it was too dangerous.
The referee told BT Sport: "Initially when I arrived the first concern was the pitch because there was some standard water on the pitch, but having taking the ball on it the pitch was playable. But my next concern was the wind and I spoke to both managers and both of them expressed concerns regarding the wind as well.
"So we had the opportunity to bring the goalkeeper out to kick the ball and see where it was landing and it just wasn't possible to play the game under such circumstances."
Ayr go into the weekend game boosted by the news that they remain in top spot, with closest rivals County and Dundee United both drawing on Saturday.
Victory in what will be the final game of the year at Somerset Park would see them soar four points clear of County and would give them a massive psychological boost and we head towards the second half of the season.
