Whitletts Victoria assistant manager Kevin Deeney says he was thrilled to see his team’s defensive problems solved as they beat Girvan 2-0 at the weekend.
The last time the two sides met they played out a goal-filled thriller at the start of the season.
Girvan ran out winners on the day with a 6-4 victory at Dam Park in the West of Scotland Football League Conference A clash.
That meant the Vic’s were out for revenge and keen to get back to winning ways after back to back defeats.
Jordan Boyd opened the scoring for the away side midway through the first half at Hamilton Park, firing in from a tight angle.
It took until deep into the second half for Vic’s to grab their second as Jordan Baird notched the winner.
Speaking to the Advertiser, Deeney said: “The last we played them it was 6-4.
“I said to the players that is a hockey score and we knew going into the game that Girvan are a team that can hurt us going forward.
“I just felt it was more of a midfield problem we had than a defensive problem, we were just a bit exposed at times.
“But that is sorted now, so we are not shipping as many goals, which is good.”
